THE DARTS HOLE
Everyone deserves their own Darts Hole.
The Darts Hole started at home, in my spare time, alongside a full-time job.
It started because I got back into darts and quickly realised how much there was to learn. Darts, boards, flights, stems, points, setups, different weights, different shapes - there seemed to be an endless amount of choice.
And when you're starting out, it's not always obvious what you actually need.
That's where The Darts Hole came from.
THE JOURNEY SO FAR
Darts had always been somewhere in the background.
My grandad played to a high level, my parents played regularly and I remember watching the BDO at Lakeside every year. Bobby George, Ted Hankey, Mervyn King - names I still remember now.
But football was always my thing.
Then came the Littler boom.
I started throwing again and, before long, I wanted my own board and my own darts. My first setup was a staple-riddled board and some chunky brass darts. It wasn't exactly the setup I'd recommend now, but it got me throwing.
A couple of years later and darts has gone from something I did occasionally to something I play, watch and think about pretty much every day.
And The Darts Hole grew out of that.
WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO
The idea is pretty simple.
I want The Darts Hole to be somewhere you can buy darts and equipment without feeling like you're just picking something off a shelf because it looks good.
I've made plenty of mistakes with my own setups. Bought things that didn't suit me, changed things that didn't need changing and spent money figuring out what actually worked.
I'd rather help you avoid some of that guesswork.
Whether you're buying your first proper set of darts, replacing a board, changing your setup or looking for something a bit different, everything on The Darts Hole is there because I believe it's worth stocking.
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY
One of the biggest things I wanted The Darts Hole to offer was the chance to actually try things.
Not everyone throws the same way. What works for one player might feel completely wrong for another.
That's why, wherever possible, we offer the chance to try darts before buying them at our pop-ups and events.
I'd much rather someone tried a set and decided they weren't for them than bought something they didn't get on with.
WHERE WE'RE GOING
The Darts Hole is still small.
It's run around a full-time job, from home and in my spare time. There's no big warehouse and no huge range just for the sake of having one.
I'm building it slowly and stocking things I actually want to sell.
The long-term goal is to have a physical shop of our own - somewhere people can come in, throw some darts, try different setups, have a chat and hopefully enjoy themselves.
Until then, you'll find The Darts Hole online and popping up at local darts events.
